SNP Youth & Students Campaign
Tour of Scotland
The Scottish National Party’s youth and student wings have announced details of an ambitious campaign tour of Scotland, which will see young SNP members from all over Scotland come together to campaign for a second term SNP Government.
The Federation of Student Nationalists (FSN) and Young Scots for Independence (YSI) will kick off their tour in Glasgow Southside on April 7th before finishing in Argyll and Bute on April 14th. Campaigning in a battle bus, which will rack up hundreds of miles, members will be telephone canvassing every constituency in Scotland as they move between.
The YSI and FSN will visit fourteen seats and telephone canvass the remaining constituencies from the campaign battle bus.
Commenting, Gail Lythgoe, Convener of the FSN, said: “We’re really excited about the campaign tour and the fantastic opportunity it will provide to talk about the SNP’s team, record and vision for Scotland.
“At this election, students in particular, have a big choice to make and the SNP has done a lot of good work when it comes to higher and further education, namely by abolishing the graduate endowment fee.
“While the Lib Dems have sold out in England, the SNP has committed to free tuition and we look forward to taking that message to students and young people across Scotland, as we campaign for a second term SNP Government.
Commenting, David Linden, Convener of the YSI, said: “As a former Modern Apprentice, I am proud that it was an SNP Government that committed to 25,000 new apprenticeships for fellow young Scots. In its first four years in Government, the SNP did a huge amount to make Scotland better but we need another five years to build upon that progress. “I have always believed that Scotland should be an independent nation and I look forward to using this campaign tour to talk about how an independent Scotland would be better placed to deal with some of the economic problems our country has faced in the last few years. “Our hardworking bunch of young activists are looking forward to re-electing a hardworking bunch of MSPs and ministers – working for Scotland and working towards independence for our country”.
During the campaign tour, the YSI and FSN will visit the following constituencies:
- Glasgow Southside
- Airdrie and Shotts
